Loved the characters, hated their story Nov 07, 2009 I really like Channing and I really like Colby. Hated the story. Really did not like how they came together. I bought this in ebook and unlike the rest of the series I will not by the hard copy. I've continued the series because although the story in my opinion was lacking. The characters were very interesting and well written.

Absolutely loved the book! Nov 05, 2009 Well, I committed the incrediable sin of reading this book out of order. I wanted to start with the books with the highest number of stars first, and was pleasantly surprised on how much I LOVED this book. It became my new favorite while I was reading it. But maybe that's because I already knew the hero & heroine and some of the other characters in the book. I loved Colby & Channing together. It was nice seeing glimpses of Cash & Gemma. And really was pulled into Trevor & Edgar's story, knowing I'd being reading their story next. And the sex scenes were some of the hottest in the series, I thought. I just love this series and am totally hooked. I love this author, and dread when I've read all the books of her series. I don't want it to end. Love the McKays & Wests.

Long Hard Ride is a long hard ride Jul 28, 2009 Channing is an East Coast school teacher looking to find herself. She does - on the Rodeo Circuit. Huh? She is dumped by her rodeo boyfriend only to be offered a ride to the next big town by 3 more rodeo men and wait for it....wait for it....all she has to do is be their sex slave for the 3 or 4 day journey. Really, three men she hardly knows and she very very readily agreed to that. Hey, I am all for a gal having a good time, but come on.
I just didn't think these people clicked together. Only the two semi-gay guys made sense to me and the fact that she fell in love with a man who isn't even really nice in 4 days just seemed odd. It almost made her seem desperate to me and I hate a desperate female lead. I like her to at least think she can it on her own. I rate this 3 stars since the men are described so deliciously and some of the sex scenes are fairly hot.

Great Western Romantica Jul 06, 2009 Lorelei does a great job in the first book of a promising series. Reminiscent of Sarah McCarty, although Ms. James' characters seemed more believable with many different facets and layers. Can't wait till September when her new book in this series comes out! Yee Ha Cowboys!!

cowboy fantasy May 10, 2009 I've been through a bad patch lately with erotic romances, and so the fact that I could finish this one gives it 3 stars, though really, that's a generous rating.
I never really liked the 2 main characters, or rather I could tolerate Colby, the rodeo star, but Channing, the heroine who just didn't want to be a private school teacher, didn't work for me. I think meeting 2 guys and giving the both head within the first 15 pages was a bit too much for me. And also, oddly, I found the sex was too clinical for me, it didn't really work on a sensual level , and there was a lot of it - I kept thinking, didn't they just do this 5 hours ago? Who wants that much sex in that little time... There was a m/m scene, which apparently is ground breaking, but the threesomes were all strictly hetero (which I just find unbelievable - what, two men are lying with a woman between them and never so much as accidentally touch? All threesomes with 2 women have the women interacting...) It did have very nice descriptions of the rodeo world (of which I know nothing) which felt authentic.
I was given this book, and I was happy to get is as a gift but don't know how much I would want to buy another.
